Topic: Introduction of ART for maternal health and access to universal precaution during intranatal period among HIV positive mothers.

Occasion: World AIDS Day ( 1st December 2015)

Theme: “ Getting to Zero: Zero New Infection, Zero Discrimination, Zero AIDS Related Deaths ”             

Beneficiaries: Staff nurses (Obstetrics and Gynaecology, paediatric dept.)       

Session: Introduction of ART therapy for maternal health, Access to universal precaution during intranatal period among HIV positive mothers, Needle stick injuries.

It was a great honor for PG students of Panna dhai Maa Subharti Nursing college to organise workshop. In this workshop organizing chairperson was Ex. Capt. Geeta Parwanda, Principal & Dean of Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College, Meerut. Co-organizing Chairperson was Reader Tajnisha Banu, Panna Dhai Maa Subharti Nursing College. The programme was started at 10 am, registration time was from 10 am to 12 pm. During inaugural session all the guest Dr. Mamta Tyagi, Dr. P.P. Khosla, Prof. Kalpna Mandal invited for the lightening of lamp. At 12:30 pm the guest lecture on introduction of ART Therapy for maternal health delivered by Dr. Prem Prakash Khosla, professor and HOD of pharmacological department, Subharti Medial college followed by group activity. At 2:00 pm lecture on Access to universal precaution during intranatal period among HIV positive mothers delivered by Reader Tajnisha Banu, followed by videos and case scenarios. This session followed by refreshment. Next session on Needle stick injury dealt by Lecturer Jony Sharma. Demonstration and redemonstration of PPE done by Mrs. Pooja Soni, OBG dept. final year, M.SC. Nursing . During the sessions the delegates were taking part actively with enthusiasm.

Assessment:

The pre test and post test was taken by structured questionnaire method. The results reveal that there were 27.2% increment in the knowledge of the participants attended workshop.

Conclusion:

This workshop emphasized on the ART therapy and universal precaution during intranatal periodfor HIV positive mothers. Staff nurses gained and updated with the new knowledge. It will help to improve their skills.
